E-Cigarettes Are Strictly a Tobacco Product, Right?
Wrong. One of the largest sources of nicotine is actually derived from vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, cauliflower, eggplant, and other vegetables. Extracting nicotine from vegetables is a bit more costly than from the tobacco plant, due to the fact that there is a higher concentration of nicotine found in each tobacco plant compared to the concentration found in vegetables. However, once isolated, the nicotine derived from any source is exactly identical, and have all the same properties and effects. So if they are the same, what’s the difference? The difference is that currently vape products are classified as tobacco products causing the strict regulations found with cigarettes and similar products to be carried over into the vaping community. E-juice with nicotine derived from vegetables instead of the tobacco plant is not a tobacco product, it is a product containing nicotine. It is important that this is made clear to both the FDA as well as the general public to minimize ridiculous bans on vape products!
